Counseling Center – provides a wide range of services to faculty, staff and students. Services are provided by a staff of professional counselors and clinical psychologists. Dining Services has managers and chefs who bring a unique blend of experiences and education to their work at Mason. Mason Dining also has a Registered Dietitian on staff for free individual or group counseling. Under information, Dining Services offers a link to nutrition information, which highlights the foundations of healthier lifestyle habits. It suggests that chronic illnesses may be caused by what is eaten. It offers the Food Guide Pyramid to suggest a general guideline to choose a healthy diet, and provides information on how to contact the dietitian. http://dining.gmu.edu
Student Health Services provides medical evaluation, treatment and nutritional counseling. Basic nutrition and meal planning can be discussed with our providers during an office visit. University Life gives contact information for a free one-on-one consultation
with an on-campus dietician, and links for more information regarding
nutrition. University Life also has information about eating disorders,
which includes facts about eating disorders and body image and information

The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition – The American Society for Clinical Nutrition, Inc. strives to encourage and implement undergraduate and graduate education in basic and clinical nutrition, particularly in medical schools. The peer-reviewed journal publishes the latest worldwide basic and clinical studies relevant to human nutrition in topics such as obesity, vitamins, and minerals, nutrition and disease, and energy metabolism. American Dietetic Association (ADA) is the nation’s largest organization of food and nutrition professionals. They are committed to helping people enjoy healthy lives. American Heart Association (AHA) is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is to reduce disability and death from cardiovascular diseases and stroke. Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) founded in 1973, is a Washington-based trade association representing ingredient suppliers and manufacturers in the dietary supplement industry. National Eating Disorders Association is the largest not-for-profit organization in the United States working to prevent eating disorders and provide treatment referrals to those suffering form anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating disorder and those concerned with body image and weight issues. National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute offers information about nutrition under such links as health assessment tools and recipes for healthy eating.
