Mason Resources

 Police Department – offers full-time officers that serve as crime prevention officers, and conduct orientation sessions for new students, new employees, housing coordinators, and resident assistants on safety procedures and alcohol and drug awareness. http://www.gmu.edu/police/

Safety Office – provides guidance and direction in all areas of the university safety program, which include occupational safety and health, environmental control, fire safety, safety-oriented training programs, building and equipment safety and risk management. http://www.gmu.edu/safety/

Sexual Assault Services (SAS) provides a confidential and comprehensive response to all reports of sexual assault and the related issues of stalking and dating/domestic violence. SAS also offers information, psychological, medical, legal and judicial advocacy, and assistance with academic intervention. Virginia Department of Health – Center for Injury and Violence Prevention (CIVP) – Parents, young adults, educators, health providers, & others can actively participate in raising awareness and enhancing skills to prevent injury and violence in their communities. The strategies for prevention include research and assessment, policy development, training and community education, promotion and dissemination of safety devices, public information and funding of local projects. Bureau of Justice Statistic offers statistics about crimes & victims, criminal offenders, law enforcement on federal, local, state, and campus. Children, Youth and Women’s Health Service offers information on many health topics for different age groups. For the age group 18 to 25, one of the many topics offered is relationship violence. National Coalition Against Domestic Violence builds coalitions at the local, state, regional and national levels, offering support for the provision of community-based, non-violent alternatives such as safe home and shelter programs for battered women and their children.
